Koanaki Mercado
RN, BSN
Koanaki Mercado, also known as Koco, has been in the medical field for 21 years. Her interest in cardiology began in 2005 while working at Holiday Heart and Vascular in Holiday, Florida. Working alongside the physician in that practice assisted in gaining knowledge and understanding of patient care from a cardiac perspective. This boosted her desire for higher education and led her to enroll in school for her nursing education.
She attended the College of Central Florida and obtained her Associate of Science of Nursing (ADN). Then she started working at a cardiac unit at the Bayfront Health in Crystal River (now known as Bravera Health Seven Rivers). While working with Bayfront Health, she was awarded the “Daisy Foundation Award” for extraordinary nursing care. Her passion for learning did not stop there; she continued her education and soon earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). During the BSN pinning ceremony, she received the “Baccalaureate Mission Award” for her high empathetic standards.
She is currently enrolled in the University of Alabama at Birmingham in pursuit of her Doctorate in Nursing Practice. In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, husband, and five daughters. She finds pleasure in crafting, scrapbooking, and making others laugh.
